Families & Money

What is the FAMILIES & MONEY program?

Utilizing the curriculum ShareSaveSpend™, the Foundation is empowering congregational leaders to take this initiative to their parishes. Having the freedom to adjust it to their particular needs, the curriculum will foster an intergenerational conversation about healthy financial habits, teaching families to counteract hyper-consumerism and aiding in the formation of a personal theology of stewardship.

What is ShareSaveSpend™?

ShareSaveSpend™ is an easy-to-follow curriculum created by nationally renowned speaker Nathan Dungan. His concern about our hyper-consumerist culture drives his method of approaching not only finances but our lifestyles. For more information, go to www.sharesavespend.com.

What kind of support does the Colorado Episcopal Foundation provide?

When you enroll your congregation in the FAMILIES & MONEY program, you will get an annual leadership workshop, two Financial Sanity Kits for your congregation, a copy of Nathan Dungan's book Prodigal Sons & Material Girls: How Not To Be Your Child's ATM, a monthly e-newsletter with resources and information on how to implement and follow up on the initiative as well as communication with other congregations implementing this program, and access to the Foundation personnel for consultations and assistance on your local trainings.

Once our congregation enrolls, what is our responsibility?

As a congregation, you commit to having two leaders head this initiative in your local congregation. The leadership must attend the trainings and are responsible for implementing the program. Each congregation is responsible for any expenses incurred by the implementation of the program, i.e. materials, travel expenses to trainings, refreshments at local workshops, etc.

How do I enroll my congregation?

The Foundation launches a "new class" at the beginning of the year - this gives the congregation time to plan and use this curriculum during the summer and/or the fall. To enroll, contact Vivian Berríos-Torres at the Foundation.
